The Tasting Deck

We dropped in for lunch because we were shopping in the area and just needed somewhere to eat. Although the prices looked a little high for a cafe next to a fruit and vegetable shop, the food was amazing. My seafood linguine was one of the best I've ever had. The balance of salty, lemon and seafood flavour was perfect. And the spaghetti was cooked al dente. My wife's mushroom risotto was also excellent. This place is well worth a visit.

Food is always healthy and delightful. Service is spotty when you need takeaway or salt and pepper etc. Especially tricky when I'm there with my baby. In a highchair and need to walk inside the cafe for help from the deck. Atmosphere is clean but always overly reserved without hosting saying you can use the table ai ce the reservation is two hours away. The restroom needs a baby changer. Other than that its a beautiful playground and nicely manicured gardens.

The Tasting Deck boasts a fresh, modern menu that reflects the gourment produce of the adjoining supermarket, Forestway Fresh. The menu isn't cheap but the food and presentation is creative. There is both indoor and outdoor seating is available. The outdoor option is great for families as it opens on to a playground. The playground is good for ages 4 and up but littlies would definitely enjoy playing on the surrounding terf and grass. You can watch your kids from the deck and you should. Although it is mostly fenced they can escape at the side into the carpark.

A lovely new cafe restaurant at the newly renovated Forestway Fresh store, where not only can you buy your fruit & veg, but a huge selection of cheeses, meats & imported European goodies. Before or after your shop, stop by the stylish, modern cafe for a delicious breakfast or brunch of ricotta hotcakes that's like a hotcake/muffin/cake all in one. Or maybe the perfectly poached eggs with asparagus & hallandaise. Or maybe lunch on the salmon with polenta or grilled halloumi or a delicious woodfired burger straight from the impressive woodfire oven. There is also a selection of ready made salads to have in the cafe or to take home as well as ready made meals and of course a selection of sweets like brownies, cakes, cannoli and more that are perfect with a great coffee. Quality is key here and there is plenty that will please adults and children, who will love the milkshakes, babycino or thick oozy cheese toasties. The staff are super friendly here, especially the boss Pascuale who is gentle, warm, with a smile that is so genuinely welcoming. A large playground for the kids means this cafe is catered for adults & kids equally and everyone can enjoy and relax in such an environment. Great to see such a little gem on the upper north shore.

I've dined at the Tasting Deck for Breakfast/Brunch, Lunch & afternoon tea. This review is specifically for the dessert or patisserie menu. The baked pear & ricotta cake is incredible! I've been to Maggio's, Fourth Village & Papa's Patisserie and this is by far the most exceptional (apologies to all competitors). The Chef here truly is a master of their craft. I often dine solo and then shop in the fresh food market..the produce is quality at its finest! Just love Forestway Fresh !

Really nice local vibe at this cafe on the corner of Mona Vale Rd and Forestway. Great breakfasts and good coffee too. I had the wood fired skillet omelette and it was terrific- not cheap but good quality and friendly service from the young crew of servers.

Two visits now, and both times perfect coffee, hot and strong, flawless bacon egg roll. Good fast service.

The TASTING DECK at Forestway Fresh recently visited with some family members as we met here as we all came from different directions ~ It was an ideal spot to grab a very nice meal and have a chat before we continued our journey. Despite the temps being another scorcher of a day, it was quite pleasant eating out 'on the deck' as it felt in a very comfortable setting. I like my chicken wraps and I must say the Grilled Chicken Wrap is the best, yet I've ever had including salad. Menu is varied and prices very reasonable. Looking forward to another visit along with a shop of fruit and veg.
